Nine out of the ten General Motors dealerships in Rhode Island report that they will be continuing as GM dealers after it goes through its restructuring.

They all said they had not received the dreaded letters of termination sent out Friday stating that their franchise(s) would not be renewed in October 2010.

Surviviing dealerhips include: Balise Chevrolet, Warwick; Barry's GM Auto Mall, Middletown; Herb Chambers Cadillac, Providence; Herb Chambers Saturn, Warwick; Hurd Auto Mall, Johnston, Paul Masse Chevrolet, East Providence; Paul Masse Chevrolet South, Wakefield; Paul Masse Pontiac Buick, Cadillac, GMC Truck, Woonsocket; and Simon Chevrolet, Woonsocket.

A spokesman at one addtional dealership was not immediately available to comment.

GM's announcement came a day after Chrysler released the names of 789 dealers it would be closing as part of it restructuring plan.
