I guess I hadn't double checked my right hand mirror because as I moved from the outside lane to the middle one on I-95 recently, a blast from a horn jerked me back and a Saab 9-3 Aero serenely swept passed.
On the inside.
Last I checked, you were supposed to pass on the outside. And the driver was a middle-aged woman!
I am used to girding my loins as I spot maniacs in small tuners weaving their way up behind me to overtake in whatever lane is free.
I assume they are young drivers, probably male, who will soon be learning a lesson from that most humorless of teachers, Mr. Adversity, in the form of a police officer or a brick wall.
I only pray they don't take anyone else out as they pursue their NASCAR-fueled fantasies.
So it was a surprise to see a respectable looking woman in a respectable car pulling this kind of stunt, albeit at a slower pace, which she continued to do on up the road.
Yes, it's a good way to duck police officers, who tend to focus on the fast lane. But it's hardly kosher, and at best creates confusion which is not a good thing on the highway.
