Ford fell many places in the most recent J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study noted Keith Crain, editor in chief of Automotive News in a recent editorial.
"It seems that Ford cars are becoming too complicated for mere mortals," he continued, adding, "Automakers should avoid features that only an electronics engineer could love."
"A car's features should be intuitive for the customer. But in the past 10 years it has become important to have thorough instruction on how to operate all the gadgets. It is rare that the customer doesn't need any instruction.
"I suspect I use only a small portion of the horsepower of my smart phone. These days, I have the same feeling about many of the vehicles that I drive. They have features that I either don't want or don't know how to use.
"Automakers should make electronic features so simple that everyone understands how to use them ..."
